10 Throw Pillows in Unusual Shapes That Look More Like Soft Sculptures

Curated for you via Architectural Digest.

Who said throw pillows had to be boring squares? In the art world, this has never been an issue. Back in the ’60s, Claes Oldenburg reimagined sandwiches and french fries as giant pillows of sorts. Today, up-and-comers like Rose Nestler, Al Freeman Jr., and Ann Moody are putting on shows featuring only “pillows,” really more like soft, stuffed sculptures. Here’s the thing: Even though these pieces look cuddly as hell, they’re still art—no one can really touch ’em. Unconventional pillows have never made it from exhibits to real-life sofas and beds … until now. We’ve put together a list of pillows that look nothing like your traditional softies, and they’re all for sale. The best part: They still function as art, but the kind you can cuddle up with whenever you want.
